Created from the experience of the Autonomy Education Programmes of the Italian Down Syndrome Association, this volume aims to accompany readers, especially young people with intellectual disabilities, in the discovery of new technology through images, concrete examples and clear language.
Along with the character guides, young readers will be accompanied as they discover different topics: what is a computer; how the internet works; how to use email, messaging apps or video conferencing platforms; how to use social networks; etc.
The book highlights the potential of these tools in everyday life, also addressing issues such as respect for privacy, the risk of harassment, and social isolation or bullying to encourage an autonomous, aware and safe approach.

As Anna Contardi affirms «We have been working at improving people's autonomy for 25 years. We have achieved excellent results. For example, we have managed to teach youngsters with serious intellectual disabilities, who are unable to read or write, to take public transport, handle money, take care of their personal hygiene, do housework and cook».
