Safety at home and away, and you’ll never make a mistake again! is aimed at all young people with intellectual disabilities, but also at those who may find it useful to learn to recognise risks within domestic environments, on the street and in the workplace, offering clear and concise indications and suggestions.

The volume is written in an easy-to-read language and contains numerous examples and images that guide the reader in discovering the dangers at home, on the street and at work (from fire to electricity, from gas to sharp tools, etc.), highlighting the correct behaviors to use a series of tools safely. Furthermore, many examples of safety-related signs are explained and useful numbers to call in case of emergency are indicated.

Workshops For Autonomy
The series was born from the experience of the “Education to autonomy paths” of the Italian Association of People with Down Syndrome (AIPD). Each volume – illustrated in color – presents materials, activities, and exercises to teach fundamental autonomy skills to kids with intellectual disabilities.

Workshops for autonomy

The series comes from the experiences of “Programmes for teaching autonomy” led by the AIPD (Italian Association for people with Down Syndrome). Each book offers materials, activities and exercises for teaching the basics of autonomy to children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities.  All the books, which are written using easy-to-understand language and are colour illustrated, come with a handy guide for educators and parents. As Anna Contardi affirms «We have been working at improving people's autonomy for 25 years. We have achieved excellent results. For example, we have managed to teach youngsters with serious intellectual disabilities, who are unable to read or write, to take public transport, handle money, take care of their personal hygiene, do housework and cook».
