Universal teaching – Mathematics for grades 1-2-3

Practical guide for “innovating by including” mathematics teaching in the first, second and third grades of primary school in a responsible and creative way. This guide offers articulated and flexible didactic planning and ample work programmes with great customization possibilities. Divided into three main sections, introduction to the concept of universal teaching and explanation of the reference model, transversal indications for effective and inclusive didactic planning, didactic planning articulated in objectives and work units for teaching the discipline in the different classes, this didactic disciplinary guide proposes mathematics activities and work programmes for the first, second and third grades of primary school, designed to encourage inclusive innovation through didactic planning aimed at achieving key goals and work units capable of developing learning and participation in all whole class group.

The Universal Didactic series
The concept of inclusion, especially in the Italian school context, is linked to the world of class management with pupils and pupils with Special Educational Needs or disabilities, in order to respond to the specific needs of some. The universal dimension of teaching proposes overcoming this logic and on the contrary poses itself as a programmatic action to plan a meaningful learning programme which is truly inclusive and based on the characteristics of the group to which it is addressed.

With this in mind, the “Universal Didactics” series offers disciplinary teaching guides that encourage inclusive innovation, through a design aimed at achieving key objectives and work units capable of developing learning and participation within the class group.
