Fairy tale mathematics vol. 1 – primary school

Right from the beginning of primary school, learning mathematics poses several difficulties for children, which, if left unnoticed, can lead to series of failures determining a loss in self-esteem and total alienation from the subject. Fairy tale mathematics offers an alternative path, avoiding these obstacles: narration. Children love listening to stories, especially if the main characters are princes, magicians or kids like themselves, and stories become an effective strategy for introducing and clarifying the following mathematical concepts, in a fun way:

• previous and next;
• base 10 and beyond 10 calculations;
• properties of operations and problem-solving;
• characteristics of solids and equivalences.
