Reading a Leaf

Reading a Leaf

Interdisciplinary paths for a creative school

Enrica Buccarella

Children observe the world with different eyes than those of an adult.  For this reason, even a simple leaf can appear to their gaze to be an element with a thousand facets. The goal of adults is to educate them on their ever-changing gaze, understanding that the leaf is a bit like a map that indicates different directions: scientific, historical, geographical, artistic, poetic.

With the scientific direction of Alessandra Falconi, the volume offers teachers, librarians, museum and cultural operators, 8 interdisciplinary programmes that help adults and children to discover how the “drawing” of a leaf has intrinsic meanings that belong to us, in our body (veins, lungs, brain…), in the codes of communication, in the organization of thought, in the representations and in the shape we give to the world.
