The blue suitcase

Organize holidays and trips with children with autism

The book presents a complete training guide, organized in 10 stages, to discover the most useful and effective strategies for organizing a trip with and for people with Autistic Condition (AC) and their family members.

Before leaving for a trip – and breaking away from the patterns of everyday life – people with autism and their families prepare their “luggage” down to the smallest detail: they plan everything well to be ready to deal with some inevitable accidents along the way. As a practical and functional guide, the book provides advice for creating an experience that is pleasant and at the same time “controllable”.

«If we want to help people with AC, be they children, teenagers or adults, to live better we must be aware that their lives are dotted with experiences of anxiety which can sometimes become deep anguish, fear and sadness».

This book isn’t just about travel. It is the book itself that represents a journey to discover a world different from the one we are usually used to: the “other” world of neuro-divergence. It is a world that, although “different”, should be included in ours to make experiences accessible to all.
