Maps workshop, an ideal follow-on from First maps, offers for primary years four and five a complete, organised programme for teaching pupils how to create and use mind maps and concept maps in a collaborative, inclusive workshop setting.
Following a gradual progression, the book presents 4 teaching methods (class work, cooperative group work, pair work and individual work) for applying maps to the study of specific subjects. Whilst designing and creating their maps, pupils will learn how to:
• identify key points in a text;
• arrange keywords in a space;
• make connections between the various parts;
• present and assess their own work;
• draw out previous knowledge;
• choose among various kinds of maps (radial, hierarchical, sequential, herringbone and branching);
• create their first concept maps.
An essential workshop programme for generating creative and original ideas, improving study methods and consolidating social skills.
