This book is intended to be a structured guide for the application of a program for teaching mindfulness meditation aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years. This program aims to give children the opportunity to access a new way of being in the world: more aware, emotionally balanced and more compassionate. This modality is one that acts as an antidote to the frenzy and stress imposed on childhood today by a materialistic and competitive culture, by enhancing qualities such as patience, kindness, trust and self-esteem.
Developed by the authors and based on the most important international experiences in the field and their personal clinical experience, this program can be proposed as a training project at school or as an independent extra-scholastic activity. It was designed for small group use, but with the necessary adaptations, it can also be applicable to a single child.
Designed for teachers, educators, and psychotherapists, “Mindfulness Program” is divided into two parts. The first explains the reasons why teaching mindfulness in the developmental age is extremely important and profitable. The second offers suggestions and indications chapter by chapter on how to conduct an 8-week mindfulness course aimed at school-aged children.
